Tattoo Aftercare
Method 1: Derm Bandage
When the tattoo is finished, I will apply a clear waterproof bandage to cover the tattoo.
You’ll wear that bandage for the first 3 days. It will likely fill with blood, ink, and plasma. Don’t worry, the ink sack is normal! If the bandage leaks, or if you have an adverse reaction to the adhesive, take off the bandage immediately.
I recommend removing the bandage in the shower by finding a bottom corner and pulling down with the skin, not away from. Think of how you remove a command strip.
-Proceed to Aftercare Phase 2
Method 2: If you have poor experiences with derm bandages, I will cover the finished tattoo with either a dry-loc pad and plastic wrap, which you will leave on for approx, 2 hours, or I can apply Mad Rabbit Repair Patches to the tattoo, which you can wear for 6-8 hours.
When its time to remove the covering, moisten it with warm water (Repair patches need to saturate for 10 minutes), and carefully remove the covering.
-Proceed to Aftercare Phase 2
Keep the tattoo clean by washing it with a fragrance free antibacterial soap, 2-3 times a day. I recommend Mad Rabbit Repair Tattoo Wash.
For the first 2 weeks, I recommend moisturizing with Mad Rabbit Repair Gel. Use it the same as you would lotion - Enough to moisturize without leaving excess on the skin. Do this as needed throughout the day.
For the rest of the healing time, keep your tattoo moisturized with a fragrance free, non-petroleum lotion. Use small amounts, just enough to hydrate the skin. Do this as needed throughout the day.
Keep up with that routine for 4-6 weeks and your tattoo should be happy, healthy, and healed!
